Traditional Brazilian Sliceable Dulce De Leche Dessert

Ingredients

  • 1 liter milk
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 pinch baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Preparation

  1. Mix the milk with the sugar and baking soda over medium heat, stirring constantly until it boils

  2. Continue stirring until it thickens and the mixture turns light brown and starts to pull away from the bottom of the pan (about 1 hour or more)

  3. Turn off the heat, let it cool slightly and stir a bit more to thicken further

  4. Grease a large surface with butter and pour the mixture. Let it cool completely and cut into pieces before serving
