Gujarati Caramelized Milk Peda

Ingredients

  • 1 liter milk
  • 1 cup sugar (1/4 cup to be cooked with milk and 3/4 cup for caramel sauce)
  • Juice of 1 lemon mixed with water

Preparation

  1. Mix lemon juice with water to create a mixture.

  2. Cook milk with 1/4 cup sugar and the lemon mixture over medium heat until it reduces and thickens.

  3. In a separate pan, caramelize the remaining 3/4 cup sugar to make a caramel sauce.

  4. Combine the caramel sauce with the thickened milk mixture and stir until well blended.

  5. Shape the mixture into small peda balls and allow to set before serving.
