Steak with Basil Sauce
Ingredients
Steak marinade
- 6 thick steak pieces
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 4 cloves crushed garlic
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon crushed chili
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Basil sauce
- 2 cups basil leaves
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1/2 cup pine nuts
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
Preparation
In a small glass bowl, place the vinegar, oil, garlic, oregano, chili, salt, and pepper. Using a fork, mix the sauce until combined.
Spread the sauce over the steak slices. Cover the dish and refrigerate for several hours.
Preheat the oven broiler. Prepare a baking sheet with a rack. Place the steak on the rack and broil for about 15 to 20 minutes until the meat is cooked.
Remove the steak from the oven. Cover it with aluminum foil and set aside.
For the basil sauce: In a food processor bowl, place the basil, garlic, pine nuts, salt, and pepper. Process until smooth. Gradually add the oil until well mixed with the basil.
On a serving plate, place the steak. Spread one tablespoon of sauce over each piece of meat. Sprinkle with cheese.
Serve hot with sautéed vegetables.
