Steamed Glutinous Rice with Durian

Ingredients

  • 4 cups glutinous rice
  • Pandan leaves and banana leaves
  • 2 small bowls coconut milk
  • Salt
  • Durian

Preparation

  1. Soak the glutinous rice for one hour, then drain.

  2. Line the steamer with banana leaves, add the rice, and steam for 15 minutes with pandan leaves for aroma.

  3. Mix coconut milk with a little salt, add to the steamed rice, mix well, and steam again for 25 to 30 minutes until cooked.

  4. Durian must be present; optionally serve with palm sugar or similar. Prepare additional coconut milk mixed with a little salt, cook briefly on low heat.

Tips

  1. You can also cook the rice in a rice cooker for ease, but steaming gives better results.
