Steel Cut Cardamom Oats

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup steel cut oats (soaked overnight, drained and rinsed)
  • 1 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp ground flax seed
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/2 a banana, sliced
  • pinch of salt ?

Preparation

  1. Add oats, flax seed, and spices to a sauce pan

  2. Add in milk, stir and bring to a boil

  3. Reduce mixture to a simmer, add in banana slices and allow to cook and thicken for 5-8 minutes

  4. Remove from stove top, remove cinnamon stick and serve

  5. Oats will continue to thicken the longer it sits, so feel free to loosen it up with a little extra milk
