Vanilla Cardamom Oats with Caramelized Bananas
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1 tbsp ground flax seed
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of ground cardamom
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 banana
- 1 cup almond milk
Banana topping
- 1/2 banana
- 2 tsp maple syrup
- 2 tsp water
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Preparation
Add all ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a simmer.
Allow to cook for about 5 minutes to thicken and then remove from the stove top.
Caramelizing bananas
Slice half a banana into 1/4 inch slices and place on a greased pan or good quality non-stick pan.
Cook for about a minute on low-medium heat without touching.
Add 2 tsp maple syrup, 2 tsp of water, a pinch of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
Flip banana slices carefully and cook on the other side for another 1-2 minutes.
Top oats with cooked bananas.
