Smoked Tofu Bacon Burger

Ingredients

  • Firm tofu or tempeh with water pressed out
  • Liquid smoke
  • Maple syrup
  • Sea salt

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to medium heat

  2. Mix together the marinade ingredients until well blended, taste to ensure you are happy with the flavour, and add more of one or two ingredients if needed, then set this aside

  3. Slice the tofu lengthwise and slice in half to create long, slim slices

  4. Place the tofu slices a little apart on the baking tray

  5. Brush or spoon a little of the mixture to coat each slice and place into the oven on the middle shelf

  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until crispy

  7. Assemble into burgers with low FODMAP gluten-free buns, lettuce, tomato, and vegan mayo
