Flaky Dill and Cheese Pastry
Ingredients
- 125g butter or margarine, melted
- 125ml vegetable oil
- 125ml yogurt
- 2 eggs (one yolk reserved for brushing)
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt, level
- 1 packet baking powder
- Flour, as needed (approximately 4 cups or 800ml)
- Half bunch dill, finely chopped
Filling
- White cheese
Preparation
Melt and cool the butter or margarine, then in a mixing bowl, combine it with vegetable oil, yogurt, vinegar, sugar, and salt and mix well.
Gradually add flour and baking powder while kneading until a soft dough forms that does not stick to hands, then add the finely chopped dill and knead to incorporate.
Shape the dough into egg-sized pieces, flatten each with your hands, add white cheese filling, shape as desired, and place on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
Brush the tops with the reserved egg yolk.
Bake in a preheated 180°C oven until golden brown.
Tips
A soft dough ensures a flaky texture.
This recipe yields approximately 20 pieces using a large baking tray.
